My experience with 5FDP fans in the US has been that its a natural evolution of the bands they grew up on – Led Zep, Van Halen, hair metal etc. The simplistic lyrics, military imagery, good stage show and the drama surrounding the band are the ingredients of the draw for the fans. I remember a FFDP fan confused because I told him that I did not like ffDp but loved Lamb of God – in his head he could not square that away.

The shows were Michael Tilson Thomas’ last shows with The San Fran Symphony. Which is also why the cheer was louder for him – also being Lars’ good friend helps.
